"The Complete National Geographic" Created by EffectiveUI Wins Top 2010 Adobe MAX Award for Digital Publishing

Adobe experts and voters recognize cutting-edge application and user experience in digital publishing category

LOS ANGELES, October 27, 2010

News Facts
"The Complete National Geographic," a desktop application that captures 121 years of the iconic magazine's content, created by the National Geographic Society and designed and developed by EffectiveUI, has won the 2010 Adobe MAX Award for Digital Publishing at Adobe MAX 2010 in Los Angeles on October 26, 2010.

The Adobe MAX Awards is a global awards program that recognizes the best uses of Adobe software for creating expressive applications that enable people to engage with ideas and information anytime, anywhere and on any device. The Digital Publishing category showcases the best of book and magazine design for non-paper media.

Released this fall, the updated "The Complete National Geographic" was developed by EffectiveUI with Adobe AIR 2.5. The award-winning application captures the complete history of the publication's articles, maps, award-winning photos and advertisements on six DVD-ROMs or hard drive.

"The MAX Awards Judging Council, comprised of Adobe experts and industry representatives with extensive knowledge of Adobe's products and solutions, selected the three finalists in each of the six categories. The Category Winners were selected from among the top three finalists from each of the six categories through online public voting. The top three finalists in each of six categories were also invited to showcase their work at MAX 2010. All of the winners were announced live at MAX during an award ceremony.

"‘The Complete National Geographic' is one of our most successful digital products, and this award is another great achievement for us," said Paul Levine, EVP, Interactive Platforms Group, National Geographic Global Media. "The Adobe technology is a large part of what helps us deliver a compelling user experience showcasing our wonderful rich media and storytelling."

""We are very proud to work with National Geographic for the updated ‘The Complete National Geographic,' and sincerely thank the MAX Awards Judging Council and our peers for recognizing and honoring our work with this achievement," said Rebecca Flavin, CEO of EffectiveUI.
