The product features high-definition images of every page of every issue dating back to 1888 and allows readers to easily browse and search within and across issues by keyword, date, contributor, topic and geo-location. In building the application, we embedded 250,000 links and indexed 45 gigabytes worth of National Geographic ’s digital content into a 100-megabyte database. The product remains a best-seller in their store, generating millions in incremental revenue.
Although we also worked with Adobe, Condé Nast, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure and Zinio on major mobile initiatives, we aren’t just focused on reinventing the magazine.
When Herff Jones asked Effective to reinvent yearbook publishing, we created one of the most sophisticated digital publishing applications ever built. The solution drove a 500% increase in Herff Jones’ digital customer base and greatly streamlined the layout and publishing process.
More recently, we applied cognitive neuroscience research to provide McGraw-Hill with a validated, tablet-based prototype of the textbook reinvented.
